What is a liability insurance?
In Germany, there is a law which states that every person is liable for loss or damage he/she causes to others. The damaging party will be held liable with his/her salary, his/her savings or even with his/her possessions and property. The liability insurance will cover such damages, except insofar as a damage was caused intentionally.
What is an accident insurance?
'Most accidents occur at home' says a German proverb. This might be the fall from a ladder while you are trying to change a bulb, or it might also be a serious road accident when you are driving by car. The accident insurance provides insurance benefits to you in case of disability or even to your surviving dependants in case of death.

Insurance cover does not exist for e.g.*:
- Owners or operators of land and air vehicles and watercraft
- Owners or keepers of animals
- The exercise of a profession
- The participation in horse and bicycle races, motor vehicle races, boxing and wrestling fights, martial arts of all kinds including preparation and training units for it.

Insurance cover does not exist for e.g.*:
- Accidents caused by mental derangements or consciousness disorders also if based on drunkenness or drug consumption
- Accidents which befall the insured person as he/she tries to intentionally carry out or implement a criminal offence
- Accidents that befall the insured person while exercising his/her profession
- Pathological disturbance caused by mental reactions irrespective of how they have been caused
- Poisoning by taking in solid or liquid substances through the throat
